Family Portraits at a Fort Morgan Beach House

Family photography taken at a charming beach house nestled in the serene coastal town of Fort Morgan, Alabama.

This family session in Fort Morgan, Alabama was captured on a brisk, sunny, and blustery day. Despite the chilly breeze, the family embraced the weather and reveled in their time together, creating heartwarming memories that are sure to last a lifetime.

To overcome the sun's harsh glare, I made the decision to delay the photo session by about 10 minutes, allowing the sun to soften its intensity. While it may seem contradictory to see a sunny day as a hurdle, the expansive sand functions as a massive reflector, posing difficulties for those with sensitive eyes. As a rule of thumb, if the brightness necessitates wearing sunglasses on the beach, it's a sign that the conditions are overly harsh for a photo shoot.

I also made sure to position the family with their backs to the sun, and employed studio lights to effectively fill in the shadows. Employing this technique not only ensured that the background details were clearly preserved, but it also prevented the skies from being washed out. When faced with windy conditions, we experimented with various angles in relation to the wind, enabling me to capture hundreds of photos within a brief span, thereby providing a wide array of options. It's essential to manage expectations and acknowledge that the beach presents an uncontrolled environment. Commencing the session later in the day granted us greater flexibility to work with diverse angles, making the intense sunlight more manageable.
