This family session at Dauphin Island took place on an overcast evening. These type of conditions can produce some very dramatic looking skies even though it can look dull and flat while shooting. These conditions are great for natural light portraiture but the backgrounds can look boring. Using portable studio lighting brings in the details and colors of the sky giving the portraits a painterly look.
