Family Reunion Session in Orange Beach

This was a very large family session that took place at a beach house in Orange Beach, Alabama. When i am talking large, I mean it was five individual families. I had my hands full with the session. Because we had so many families I decided to start my session 30 minutes earlier than I normally do. The reason I start may family sessions an hour before sunset is it gives some time for the sun to set and not be as bright. However, it was a perfectly clear day so the sun was really bright. We found an area tucked away next to the beach house that had some shade cast over the area. When it is bright people squint since the beach acts as a huge reflector back into subjects faces. Using my portable lights I was then able to compensate for being in the shade. After the formal portraits we moved to the beach and we had time for candid portraits and not so formal photography that was more fun for the children involved.
