This session at Vista Del Mar in Perdido Key didn’t have the greatest of conditions. It was overcast and there were thunderstorms all around. It looked gloomy. Fortunately the family was up for the challenge, and we had to make it happen anyway as they were leaving the next day. In situations like this I do like to use natural light. However, it does look a bit flat and dreary. Since we had some very dramatic looking skies I used my portable studio strobes to accentuate the backgrounds. By using lights I was able to give a depth and brightness to the portraits that natural light simply can’t accomplish.
